We took our annual Valentine’s Day trip to the Hometown Buffet in Elk Grove. They give a free meal to couples married 50 years or more. Because they expected a big crowd for the Saturday Valentine observance, they restricted us old free-loaders to a morning brunch ending at 11:00am. So after meeting the Chews at Nugget and getting bagels for the church coffee hour, we dashed down Highway 99 and to the buffet.
One of the features of their 50+ day is a free picture. We always take our own camera and have the young woman take a picture with it so we can have a copy to show all you good folk.

They had an omelet station where we each got a mushroom and cheese omelet.

Between us we had corned beef hash with an egg, a waffle with syrup, French Toast coffee with soft ice-cream, a cinnamon roll, Jell-O and other stuff that we can’t recall two days later.
There were lots of other old folk in for their free meal.

And as usual, Betty met an acquaintance from many years ago. Addie from the Senior Citizen Food place, and more recently a helper at Kaiser hospital.

As we left, an insufferably cheery greeter helped Betty to the door.

And that did away for our need for lunch. We both decided we did not want to see a movie, which is nearby and sometimes part of our buffet routine. So we went home and rested while digesting our ample meal.
