Our Easter Celebration began on Maundy Thursday. First came our 2:00pm discussion group with coffee and lemon pie. Then home for a nap and up again for the 6:00pm Maundy Thursday dinner, followed by worship and communion. There was also foot washing done by the pastors in remembrance of Jesus washing the disciple’s feet on the night before his Crucifixion. We did not go up barefooted to have our feet washed because that did not sound like a good thing for us elders to do.
A good part of Saturday was devoted to getting food ready for our Easter visitors and doing some childproofing of the house and deck since we would have a one year old and a three year old at the end of Easter Day.
Sunday morning, we went to the 7:00am service which was followed by coffee, cinnamon rolls, and fruit. We were supposed to make coffee for Easter morning but the woman in charge had made enough for all three services, so we could go home and set the table and do other good stuff. We did our usual chores at Food Closet, unloading the truck with Trader Joe donations.
After nap time, the Grands arrived with a load of laundry and a healthy appetite. Looking for something useful to do while waiting for dinner time, they washed Betty’s car cleaner than it has ever been. Jim had just gone through the $5.00 car wash so they did the inside, again cleaner than it has been for a long time. Both cars are shiny and gleaming gold in the sun.
For dinner we had turkey that we sliced on Saturday so it would be ready on Sunday. Betty made her ever popular uncooked cranberry sauce and a big bowl of yams, a granddaughter favorite. And we did start the dinner with artichokes, another favorite.
We had just finished dinner when Andrea Saltray arrived with daughter Renee and son-in-law Craig Sanborn, bringing a delicious carrot cake made by Renee.

That became our unplanned dessert. Which we ate on the deck while watching 3 year old Carter Sanborn race around and around, down one set of steps and around to the other set and over the deck at full speed, stopping once in a while to look for Kat who was skillfully hiding from all these strange people.

Wesley was much calmer than Carter and was content to sit o people's laps.

Bob Saltray was not with us due to an infected gum. Brian and Kim volunteered to be whale docents since other people did not want to work on the Easter holiday so they joined us in spirit only.
