We had two cracked tiles in our kitchen counter top and some joints badly in need of re-grouting. WE could have found a tile man to clean this up for us, at a fraction of the final cost. We liked the idea of a seamless counter top and sink where grout would never be a problem. A brief investigation led us to believe that the product Corian wouild be the most satisfactory. This belief was reinforced by the lauditory comments made by our friends with Corian.
The first step in getting a Corian sink and countertop is to talk to the nice lady from COSTCO who dazzled us with colors and shapes and options. Should have gotten a picture of her.
The next step is to schedule a day to tear out the old tile and sink and a day 10 days later for installation.
We take everything off of the sink countertop.
On tear-out day Fidel and his helper take measurements.
Once satisfied with the plan, they set to work with hammers, crow bars and pry bars to remove the old tile. Very tough it was and took a lot of serious banging. Not a quiet process. And Kat disappeared since strangers and loud noises send her into hiding
The plumbing under the sink had to be disconnected. The COSTCO lady asked if Jim wanted to do it. No way say Jim who quit doing stuff that he hire younger people to do.
Finally. The sink was lifted out.
And the cupboards were bare.
Now, we all must wait nine days for the customized Corian counter and sink are brought back to be glued in.Then you will see our grand bone colored installation or The Corian Caper - Part two.
